True Buddha School Dharmadhara House Announcement
Food Yoga Offering Practice—Inner Homa Offering Visualization
Document No.: Dharma Transmission Announcement No. 001
Subject:
The sadhana for “Food Yoga Offering Practice—Inner Homa Offering Visualization” is hereby issued, together with an explanation of the doctrinal positioning of this practice, the methods of empowerment, and the steps of practice, so that practitioners of the True Buddha School may have a basis to follow.
Explanation
Based on the above teachings of Root Lineage Guru, the Dharmadhara House has compiled the steps of practice for “Food Yoga Offering Practice—Inner Homa Offering Visualization” for practitioners of the True Buddha School to follow.
Food Yoga Offering Practice—Inner Homa Offering Visualization
This practice is the visualization of inner homa offering within the Food Yoga Offering Practice and is a Vajrayana offering practice performed during daily meals.
The essence of this practice is to transform daily meals into a spiritual practice of making offerings to the Guru, principal deity, and Dharma protector, enabling practitioners, with every meal, to:
The inner homa referred to in this practice is the visualization of the inner homa offering during meals taught by Root Lineage Guru. It is not an external homa fire offering, nor is it equivalent to other practices involving inner fire, qi, channels, and light drops.
This practice may be performed at breakfast, lunch, dinner, or other regular meals each day.
Practitioners should first follow the True Buddha School's existing sequence for food offerings:
This practice is an additional visualization performed after the existing offering practice. It does not replace the existing offering practice, nor is there any need to establish a separate set of preliminary practices.
Yoga—Inner Homa Offering Visualization
This practice may be empowered remotely.
The practitioner follows the existing offering practice. After completing the recitation of the Offering Mantra, the practitioner may continue with the additional “Inner Homa Offering Visualization.”
Before making the offering, first visualize the Wisdom Deity in the sky.
Then visualize one's Guru, principal deity, and Dharma protector appearing in the sky. They gradually approach the practitioner, transform into points of light, and enter the practitioner's central channel, arriving at the heart.
Visualize an eight-petaled lotus blossoming in the heart. The Guru, principal deity, and Dharma protector are seated upon the eight-petaled lotus.
Visualize one's hands transforming into the implements used for homa offerings—the chopsticks or ladle.
Visualize one's mouth transforming into the mouth of the Fire Deva of the homa furnace.
Visualize, in sequence:
Recite:
Om. Ah. Hum.
After reciting “Om, Ah, Hum,” blow once toward all the offerings, visualizing all the offerings receiving blessings and transforming into inexhaustible, boundless offerings.
When eating, visualize chopsticks or other utensils used to pick up food as homa implements used to present offerings.
When food is swallowed through the mouth and reaches to the heart, visualize it being offered to:
all of whom are abiding upon the eight-petaled lotus in the heart.
Visualize the Guru, principal deity, Dharma protector, and practitioner all receiving the offering simultaneously.
With every bite, visualize that it is equivalent to making offerings of countless and innumerable portions of food.
When the food enters the mouth, visualize in sequence:
When the food reaches the heart, the Guru, principal deity, and Dharma protector simultaneously receive the offering.
This is the visualization method of “Food Yoga—Inner Homa Offering.”
Every time one raises the chopsticks, every time food enters the mouth, and every time one swallows can become part of cultivation.
If practitioners can maintain the right mindfulness of making offerings over a long period, they are continually accumulating provisions in their daily lives.
This practice does not merely involve visualizing the deities in remote space. Rather, it invites the deities to enter the mind, enabling practitioners to constantly remember the Three Roots.
Food in the mundane world can easily give rise to attachment and craving. Through “Om, Ah, Hum” and the Inner Homa Visualization, food becomes offerings, transformed into provisions for cultivation and benefiting sentient beings.
This announcement is hereby issued for reference by all Dharma propagating personnel, all True Buddha School cultivation venues, and all fellow disciples. Those who wish to practice this dharma must first receive empowerment for this practice before they may practice according to the sadhana set forth in this announcement.
May your cultivation be peaceful,
and may your resolve on the Way continue to grow.
