Dharma King Living Buddha Lian-sheng Attended the October 10 National Day Reception in Seattle
On the evening of October 5, at the formal invitation of the Republic of China (ROC) Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle (TECO-Seattle), HH Living Buddha Lian-sheng Sheng-yen Lu and Shimu Master Lianxiang attended a National Day celebration reception held at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Hotel ahead of the ROC National Day on October 10. Grandmaster and Shimu were accompanied by Dr. Lu Fo-ching, president of the Sheng-Yen Lu Foundation, and a number of True Buddha School (TBS) acharyas, reverends, and disciples. Together they graced the grand event and celebrated the happy and magnificent day.
As the lion dance began, HH Living Buddha Lian-sheng gave the lion dance troupe festive red envelopes for blessing the troupe and for blessings of auspiciousness, prosperity, and realizing national goals and ambitions for the ROC.
During the reception, a number of government officials from the greater Seattle area gave speeches expressing that over the years, significant progress has been made in creating strong bilateral ties between Taiwan and Seattle. These positive bilateral ties are the outcome of hard work and support by overseas Chinese community leaders and prominent business representatives from the public and private sectors. Positive exchanges are evident in the process of establishing the two regions as sister cities, specifically in aspects of economic development and culture, partnerships between the public and private sectors, and the establishment of official and unofficial organizations. By becoming more innovative and robust in economic development, trade, and culture, Taiwan and Seattle are moving to realize expectations and goals that both sides have long worked for!
At the National Day reception, Washington state government officials and overseas Chinese affairs community leaders greeted and shook hands with Living Buddha Lian-sheng. As a remembrance of the occasion, everyone took a group photograph with Grandmaster, Shimu, and Dr. Lu Fo-ching. In addition to spreading the dharma, Living Buddha Lian-sheng also teaches disciples to embrace philanthropy by charitable giving, bringing benefit to others, giving back to the community, and repaying one's nation with gratitude. The above enthusiastic reception indicates that the philanthropic activities of Living Buddha Lian-sheng and the Sheng-yen Lu Foundation have gained the recognition and respect of the entire community!
Distinguished guests at the reception included the Director General of TECO-Seattle Vincent Yao and his wife; advisors to the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee dharma sister Xie Mingfang (legal advisor); Sifu Mak Hin Fai; and other committee members and government officials. Everyone wished a happy National Day to the ROC and sincerely prayed for the ROC and its citizens to enjoy peace, harmony and prosperity.
Living Buddha Lian-sheng lead all five million TBS disciples in sincerely wishing the ROC peace and prosperity, bumper harvests of the five cereals, favorable weather, liberal government, harmonious society, auspiciousness, and fulfilled wishes.
