Dharma Teaching by HH Living Buddha Liansheng
After attaining spiritual union with Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, one will naturally also attain spiritual union with Amitabha Buddha and Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, because the Pure Land Trinity shares the same origin. HH Living Buddha Liansheng encouraged everyone to participate in the upcoming Fall Grand Ceremony, as this is a very important bodhisattva.
Q&A
Question from Master Shi Lianyou (Singapore)
Homage to HH Living Buddha Liansheng. Amitabha Buddha.
Question: In this rapidly changing era, how can True Buddha School disciples maintain stability, secure employment, and have sufficient resources? Is it necessary to complete three thousand meritorious deeds?
Question: Can Tiger-Head Vajra dispel the malefic influences associated with the Nine Flying Stars? If so, does this mean that if one enshrines Tiger-Head Vajra at home and recites the mantra, there is no need to hang gourds or Six Emperor Coins?
Thank you for Grandmaster's answers.
Lianyou pays homage to Grandmaster
His Holiness’ Answer
AI indeed knows everything. Whatever questions are asked, answers can be obtained. However, AI cannot attain spiritual realization. We understand what is known as the wondrously luminous true mind. According to the instructions given to His Holiness by the Buddhas and bodhisattvas, as long as one recognizes one's own Buddha-nature, one will naturally have no fear.
Human beings all fear death. However, the apostles of Jesus were willing to die in order to protect the truth, and therefore they did not fear death.
Regardless of how advanced the AI era becomes, what is important is that practitioners have the "Way" within their hearts. Meritorious deeds should still be carried out. AI has its own functions, while we must continue walking our own path of cultivation. AI cannot attain spiritual realization, but we can.
Regarding the second question, His Holiness said that the Golden Mother of the Jade Pond represents zero, which corresponds to the Taoist concept of the Limitless (Wuji). The Eight Trigrams operate through yin and yang, and yin and yang generate and overcome one another. However, when one enters monism, namely the Taoist state of Wuji, nothing can overcome it. Therefore, making offerings to Tiger-Head Vajra can dispel malefic influences.
Why are some people able to see Grandmaster's Dharma body, while others can speak celestial language, and still others can neither see nor understand? Why do some people develop spiritual awareness while others do not? In reality, all of this depends on karmic affinity.
It is like playing the piano. Everyone must practice repeatedly until skill becomes mastery. The principles of cultivation are the same. One must refine oneself every day, transforming worldly desires into the Way.
Deep breathing can redirect one's attention. When desires arise within practitioners, they can use tantric breathing methods to transform those desires. As long as practitioners can successfully redirect their desires, they have already succeeded halfway in the practice of Inner Tantra.
His Holiness’ Commentary on the Surangama Sutra, Volume Five
Shakyamuni Buddha asked Ananda whether he could call the first knot the sixth knot. Ananda replied that this was impossible because the first knot is called the first precisely because it was the first one formed.
Ananda explained that the six knots cannot be arbitrarily renamed. Shakyamuni Buddha told Ananda that although these six knots are different, they all originate from the same khata. The six sense faculties are also like this. People only see the knots but overlook the khata itself.
His Holiness explained that the six knots actually represent the six sense faculties. Everyone sees only the six sense faculties but fails to see the khata representing the wondrously luminous true mind. People often focus only on external appearances while failing to see the inner Way.
Shakyamuni Buddha explained that it is the same for the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind. Although these six knots are different, they are all formed from the same khata. One must recognize the wondrously luminous true mind rather than these knots.
Ananda said that because these knots exist, confusion arises. Once there are the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind, greed, anger, and ignorance arise. These are all caused by the six sense faculties.
Shakyamuni Buddha explained that the human mind is like this. It has never ceased, and thoughts continue to arise endlessly. When people perceive these illusory appearances, they enter inverted and deluded thoughts, all caused by the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind.
Ananda asked Shakyamuni Buddha how these mad disturbances, like knots being tied, could be undone.
His Holiness told everyone that all encounters in this world are reunions from previous lives. Everyone has simply come together to reconnect; the only difference is that karmic affinities may be long or short. Whether positive or negative affinities arise, we must learn to transform them. This is cultivation.
