On July 14th, the two-day Seattle Summer Dragon Festival commenced in Chinatown International District. Every year Seattle Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple (LSCTT) puts its utmost effort into this festival. The abbot of LSCTT, Master Lianhua Dehui, was on hand to help out in the booth along with other masters and reverends.
This year, a majestic Tantric mandala was set up in the Seattle LSCTT booth, and buddhas and bodhisattvas were invoked to compassionately protect the mandala. Seattle LSCTT arranged an incense burner for visitors attending the booth. Visitors could put an offering of sandalwood powder into the incense burner and pray to the buddhas and bodhisattvas for accomplishment and success.
Attracted by the beautiful mandala, many non-Chinese festival goers also stopped to offer incense, thus establishing a good affinity with Buddhism by connecting with buddhas and bodhisattvas. In addition, there were many Buddhist accessories, such as amulets, displayed for sale in the LSCTT booth. These beautiful items also provide protection from danger and evil.
This year, Seattle LSCTT prepared a spinning wheel for a prize drawing. Winners were awarded various secret gifts such as fans, balloons, toys, snacks, etc. The constant stream of visitors to the booth made for a festive atmosphere. Adding to the excitement, the Seattle Dragon and Lion Dance Team made a special detour to the LSCTT booth. The team's energetic and entertaining performance attracted many onlookers. Mr. Zhuo Hongyi, Executive Director of Pan American TV, also came to the LSCTT booth to extend his greetings.
The Summer Dragon Festival is a major event in the Chinatown International District. Through its participation in the event, Seattle LSCTT brings more recognition of the True Buddha School and helps the True Buddha Dharma to go lasting on.
