On Day 1 of Chinese New Year, Dharma King Living Buddha Lian-sheng Sheng-yen Lu spoke about the Lotus Light Charity Society's earthquake disaster care and relief operations at a media conference

On February 8, 2016, Day 1 of Chinese New Year, Dharma King Living Buddha Lian-sheng Sheng-yen Lu pointed out the Lotus Light Charity Society's earthquake disaster care and relief operations at a media conference.

The Lotus Light Charity Society's southern branch recently delivered front-line news on the status of their earthquake disaster relief efforts.

Led by its President, Mr Qiu Zhengyi, the rescue team left for the disaster zone in the first instance to proactively assist in resource distribution. Furthermore, the team has set up a base for its operations in the Lingxiao Hall of Wulong Temple in Yongkang, Tainan so as to facilitate the distribution of various relief supplies to the earthquake victims as well as to the members of the national armed forces assisting in the relief efforts.

The Lotus Light Charity Society (LLCS) has previously been through the 921 Earthquake, 88 Flooding incident and Kaohsiung gas explosion, from which the LLSC had gained experience in rescue and relief efforts. Therefore, the LLCS is able to swiftly respond to and coordinate with the government in the first instance in demonstrating community based rescue and relief efforts!

Late at night, as the outreach vehicles arrive from Kaohsiung to deliver hot food, hot soy bean milk drinks, steamed buns and meat buns, the volunteers from the LLCS promptly brave the cold and crisp wind to distribute the food and drinks to the exhausted front-line rescue workers.

The Taiwanese society is truly a caring society; where the LLCS is concerned, rallying under its common banner, tangible and material supplies for the victims continue to pour in. Often, there are highly enthusiastic people riding their vehicles quite frequently to the LLCS making enquiries on the adequacy in supplies. How touching this is!

In this instance, we would like to appeal to everyone to show their compassion in the spirit of ''seeing with the eyes of another, listening with the ears of another, and feeling with the heart of another,'' and make donations generously to the disaster stricken areas, so as to make a contribution to the earthquake disaster victims!
