2026 True Buddha WeiDer Buddhist College Admissions Announcement (One-Year Program)

  1. Eligibility Requirements:
    1. True Buddha School reverends who have not previously attended the training program may apply. No age limit. Tuition is free.
    2. Lay applicants must be under 45 years of age.

  2. Application Categories:
    1. College-Sponsored Students (Tuition-Free):
      Applicants must be ordained monastics.
    2. Self-Funded Students:
      A total fee of NT$30,000 for one academic year, covering meals, accommodation, tuition, and miscellaneous fees.
      Open to applicants of all nationalities, ages 18–45.
    3. Continuing Education Students (Tuition-Free, No Ordination Required):
      Taiwan nationals aged 18–35 may enroll without tuition fees and without ordination.
      (A refundable deposit of NT$20,000 is required and will be returned upon graduation.)

  • International applicants who require a one-year Taiwan residence visa:
    The college will assist with the application process, which takes approximately 3–4 months. Early application is required. Please contact the college or visit the website for details.
  • Application deadline (for those requiring a one-year residence visa): June 15, 2026.

Information for International Students:
The duration of one training cohort is approximately 10.5 months.
Training takes place at Lei Tsang Temple in Taiwan, allowing students to directly experience the operation of a large religious organization and how the monastic community honor the guru, treasure the dharma, and cultivate diligently.

Visa Options:
For students from Hong Kong and Macau:
  • May enter Taiwan on a 90-day tourist visa.
  • Can extend for another 90 days without leaving Taiwan.
  • Before reaching 180 days, exit and re-enter once to complete the program.
  • No need to apply for a one-year residence visa.
For students from Europe and the Americas:
  • May enter Taiwan on a 90-day tourist visa.
  • Exit to a nearby location (e.g., Hong Kong) every 90 days. (3 times total)
  • No need to apply for a one-year residence visa.

Applicants from these regions who prefer a one-year residence visa (processing time approx. 3–4 months) will receive assistance from the college.

Required Documents for One-Year Residence Visa Applicants:
Please prepare the following and have them authenticated at a Taiwan overseas representative office:
  1. Admission Letter: Apply through the college; also obtain a recommendation letter from a local Lei Tsang Temple or Vajrayana association.
  2. Passport Copy: Include photocopy and three 2-inch color photos.
  3. Health Check Report: Must be authenticated. Valid for only 3 months (must be issued within 3 months prior to entry into Taiwan).
  4. Recommendation Letter from Overseas Religious Organization: Must be authenticated by the Embassy, Representative Office, or Consulate of the Republic of China (Taiwan) abroad.
    (If you have a high school diploma or higher, it must be translated into Chinese and authenticated.)
  5. Declaration Form: Signature must match the passport signature exactly.
  6. Proof of Registration of Inviting Organizations:
    Includes documentation for the Chinese True Buddha School Vajrayana Association, Weider Buddhist College, and Lei Tsang Temple in Taiwan.

Application Process for “FR Religious Studies Residence Visa”:
  • First visit to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in your country:
    Authenticate your personal documents, including recommendation letters and academic certificates (translated into Chinese).
  • Send the following to the college via express mail:
    • Authenticated original recommendation letter
    • Authenticated original academic certificates (translated into Chinese)
    • Copy of health check report
    • Passport copy
    • Original declaration form
    • Photos
  • The college will issue an “Approval Letter for Religious Studies” upon successful application.
  • Second visit to TECO:
    Submit the approval letter, passport, and original health report to apply for the FR Religious Studies Visa.
  • After receiving your visa application case number (Vxx), promptly notify the college.
