Changing the world doesn’t always take something grand — sometimes, it begins with nothing more than a blank sheet of paper.

Just moments before the event began, the heavy rain miraculously stopped — exactly as Thubten Karma Rinpoche had told the team earlier.
When Rinpoche and Lions team first arrived at the school, the sky was covered in dark clouds. Rinpoche offered a heartfelt prayer to his Root Guru, His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng, Sheng-Yen Lu. Soon after, rain began to fall, and some couldn’t help but wonder, “Why is it still raining?” Rinpoche smiled calmly and said, “Once the program starts, the rain will stop.” And it did. The very instant the host announced the opening, the downpour ceased, sunlight broke through the clouds, and bathed the schoolyard in golden warmth. The volunteers, who had been half skeptical, were left in awe — deeply grateful for the Root Guru’s profound blessings that everyone present could tangibly feel.
Most of the children here come from underprivileged families. Their exercise books are often written on both sides of each page to make them last longer. When they received stacks of brand-new notebooks, they clutched them close to their chests, eyes shining with excitement. During the photo session, the students raised their new books high above their heads, filling the mountain village with laughter and the sparkle of hope.
This was more than just a gift of stationery — it was a beam of light, shining into the dreams of these children.
