Practitioner should Leave All Worries, Heart is Not Attached to Any State of Mind

Seattle Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple is the origin of all worldwide temples and chapters of True Buddha School. Recently we are seeing many disciples taking a pilgrimage to the origin temple from all over the world. June 27, 2009, Master Lian Huo (蓮火上師) lead tonight`s Yellow Jambhala group practice; joined participants included Grand Master`s loving daughter and son-in-law. Altogether almost three hundred participants supported tonight`s group practice, including Masters, Dharma Instructors, Reverends, members and a group of almost a hundred disciples from Chicago, Ling Sheng Ching Tze Temple Chicago Chapter (芝城雷藏寺), packed the main hall with joyful atmosphere. Everyone finally was able to see Grand Master`s in person and listened to Grand Master`s precious lecture.

After the group practice, Reverend Lian Wong (釋蓮萬法師) lectured that a practitioner learning Buddhism should not have a rigid mind, plus his/her heart should have no dispute in order to liberate from reincarnation. Master Lian Huo encouraged practitioners to focus on actual practice, and not chase after money and materialistic fortunes. Worldly fortunes and disasters are often connected to each other; chasing after worldly fortunes will loose the fortunes in heaven.

Dharma King His Holiness Living Buddha Lian-Sheng continued the lecture on The Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch (六祖壇經). His Holiness Hui Neng, who became the great Sixth Patriarch of Ch’an (Japanese Zen), indicated in the Prajna Sutra (般若品): The one who put the Mahaprajnaparamita into practice is practicing the Dharma of Prajna. One who does not practice it is an ordinary man. The one who in one instant directs his/her mind to practice the Mahaprajnaparamita is the Buddha. Learned Audience. An ordinary person is equal to a Buddha, the vexation is the Bodhi. The first foolish passing thought makes one an ordinary person, while an enlightened second thought makes one a Buddha. A passing thought that clings to some state of mind is vexation, while a second thought that frees one from any attachment is Bodhi.

Grand Master added entertaining jokes to explain this segment of sutra with three main points: 1. An ordinary person is equal to a Buddha. 2. Vexation is Bodhi. 3. Free from all state of mind is attaining the Boddhahood. One of the Kargyupa`s Mahamudra (白教大手印) teaching, Leaving all stage Yoga (離戲瑜珈), is teaching all Buddhist Practitioners to liberate from all realms. There will be sufferings and worries if a practitioner falls into a state of mind. The one who reached awakening can penetrate all state of mind, and attained to the true stage of oneness; all worries are Bodhi.

Grand Master encouraged disciples to always remind ourselves to free from all worries, not letting the worries to get to our heart. At the same time, Grand Master gave a subject to have all disciples to think and reflect on this question: How to free oneself from all worries and stages?

After the group practice, Grand Master compassionately consecrated the Buddha statues, blessed the Great Compassion Water, and gave initiation empowerments to new disciples. Group of disciples from Chicago Temple took a precious picture with Grand Master. Before leaving the main hall, Grand Master blessed each kneeled disciples; everyone left with a heartfelt fulfillment.
