【Ekajati Dharmalakṣaṇa Brief Introduction】

''Ekajati'' has ''one head,'' ''one upright ponytail,'' ''one eye,'' ''one tooth,'' and ''one breast.'' Her single eye is in the center of her forehead. The tip of her single tooth points down like a phurba. Her single breast is at the center of her chest. She gathers her hair on top of her head with the tip of the ponytail pointing up.

The right hand of Ekajati the blue-black Buddha Mother holds a corpse-rod and left hand, a devil's heart and a she-wolf.

''Ekajati'' is a transformation of Adibuddha, ''Samantabhadra Tathagata (the Primordial Buddha).'' Her image is special. Ekajati has a single ponytail, a single eye, single tooth, and single breast. Her right hand holds a corpse-rod means she is holding a corpse as her staff. Her left hand holds the heart of a devil or a wolf.

The ''single ponytail'' represents the supreme top of the Primordial Buddha;
The ''single eye'' represents one wisdom, the perfect and complete wisdom;
''One wisdom'' represents the ''non-production'' wisdom;
The ''single tooth'' represents complete purity. This is because with her single tooth, Ekajati can crush any attachment, aversion, ignorance, doubt, pride, and all bad influences into pieces; and
The ''single breast'' represents the equal blessing of sentient beings with the four accomplishments, calamity-eradication, enrichment, love and respect, and subjugation with non-discrimination.

''Ekajati,'' ''Kurukulle,'' and ''Rahula'' are the three uncommon principal protectors of the Nyingma sect.

''Ekajati'' especially is the principal deity of ''Reverend Liaoming.''

Ekajati is a great Buddha Mother. She is a transformation of Adibuddha, which is a transformation of the Primordial Buddha. Therefore, she is a supreme Buddha Mother. Besides her, there are two more supreme Buddha Mothers: Prajnaparamita and Buddha Locani. However, Ekajati is still the highest.

''Rang,'' Ekajati's seed syllable, means fire. Ekajati's mantra is ''Om。ah-song-ma。 hum。 pei。'' It calls her name directly. Ekajati is ''ah-song-ma.'' ''Hum。pei'' is subjugate. ''Om'' represents universe. She has another mantra, ''om。yi-ji。rang。yang。kang。 Hum。''

When practicing the sadhana, one only needs to visualize a ''rang'' syllable directly in the heart chakra of Adibuddha. The ''rang'' syllable then transforms into Ekajati. This transformation is also three-step dharma engenderment. However, for Ekajati, the steps are unusually different. The transformation is directly from Adibuddha.

The mantra of ''Ekajati (Ahsongma)'' is 「om。 ah-song-ma。 hum。pei。」Chant her name, recite her mantra, and practice her subjugation practice. Internally, Ekajati can subjugate one's attachment, aversion, ignorance, doubt, and pride. She can also remove all one's karma and bad habits.

Externally, if there is evil, and it appears in front of Ekajati, it will be diminished. Ekajati's sharp tooth is triangular; She will place the evil at the tip of the triangle; then, ''Smash!'' Ekajati will chew it like an ant and crush it. She is able to subjugate evil.

The primary purpose for the practice of this deity is for ''subjugation.'' Visualize Ekajati's triangular tooth, then position your karma or enemies under Ekajati's triangular tooth. ''Smash!'' And they will disappear as if they had evaporated from the world. So, this practice cannot be practiced lightly! You cannot practice it against a person, but you can use the sharp angle of the triangular tooth to subjugate your karma: attachments, aversions, ignorance, doubt, pride, bad idiosyncrasies, all your bad karma, and yourself. One ''Smash!'' and you ''restore your purity.'' This is also a ''repentance practice.''

''Restoring one's own purity,'' ''one lamp that can get rid of a thousand years' darkness'' is the biggest blessing!
''Restoring one's own purity,'' ''one wisdom that can cause ten thousand years' ignorance to vanish'' is the biggest wisdom.
''Restoring one's own purity'' is the biggest eradication of calamities;
''Restoring one's own purity'' is the biggest magnet for love and respect;
''Restoring one's own purity'' is the biggest subjugation.

If you subjugate your own karma, restore your purity, in due course your blessings will increase; your wisdom will increase. Everything purified and perfect in your life is love and respect; when everything is pure, naturally all enemies will be removed.

Ekajati is the Tagathaga wisdom, namely the great perfection wisdom, which consists of only ''one'' symbolizing ''non-arising.'' The Ekajati mudra is one finger portraying the ''one'' of Ekajati. Sentient beings are ''two'' because they differentiate. They have good and evil which are two sides. Long and short are two sides; black and white, two sides; good luck and bad luck, two sides; yin and yang, two sides; and male and female, two sides. Everything is two sides. Like Taiji, one side is black, the other, white. That is two-sided. However, when it comes to Ekataji, only ''one'' remains, not ''two!'' Therefore, Ekataji is the highest wisdom mother.
