A bull under the earth has turned its body over! At 3:57 am on Saturday, February 6th, 2016, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake shocked southern Taiwan. The City of Tainan was the most seriously damaged. Many buildings in the city were tilted over or toppled. It was reported that people are dead and injured. Rescue teams have been trying actively to reach people trapped in the rubble and have so far salvaged at least 221. At present, many are still stranded.

According to the Central Weather Bureau, Caoling in Yunlin County experienced the highest magnitude of 6. Qishan in Kaohsiung City, Sandimen in Pingtung County, Nanxi in Tainan City, Tainan City, Caoshan in Chiayi County, and Chiayi City all experienced quakes as high as magnitude 5.

On Feb 8th, 2016, the first day of the Chinese New Year, True Buddha School founder Living Buddha lian-sheng, Sheng-yen Lu presided over a Maitreya Bodhisattva homa at the Taiwan Lei Tsang Temple.

Just two days ago, a day before New Year 's Eve, an earthquake shocked all of Taiwan. Many buildings tilted over or collapsed. To specially bless and eradicate the calamities of those that unfortunately died or were injured in, or are still trapped by the Tainan quake, Living Buddha Lian-sheng led the entire audience in chanting ''TBS Eight Principal Deities' Mantras'' after the ceremony! Together they wished to energize the victims and cheer them up. May all the deceased victims be reborn in the Buddha land; and May all the injured recover soon and rebuild their homes!

In addition, immediately after the earthquake, Qiu, Zhengyi, the president of the southern region of ''Lotus Light Charity Society,'' founded by Living Buddha Lian-sheng, immediately led a team to the distressed area. At Lingxiao Hall of Wulong Temple in Yongkang, Tainan, they passed out various supplies to the disaster victims and military rescuers.
