Red Cloth Bag Represents My Heart
A red cloth bag
Represents a disciple’s heart
Sincerely praying with folded palms
For spiritual light to protect Guru Buddha
True Buddha School (TBS) disciples are earnestly supplicating Guru Buddha to stay in the world. They asked Grandmaster about the most effective method to extend life. In Book 290, Stories of Thousands Dharma Vessels, “A Fine Line Between Life and Death”, Living Buddha Lian-sheng Sheng-yen Lu introduces the following:
"Write Grandmaster’s name, date of birth, and time of birth on a red cloth that has a Life-protecting and Peaceful Talisman drawn on it. Put the red cloth into a small red bag, close the bag with red thread, and hang it around the neck of your principal deity statue. In this way, you will protect Grandmaster with the spiritual light of the principal deity. The red cloth bag should be placed around the neck of the statue of the principal deity on the afternoon of a Chu day [Chinese Almanac removal day].”
After reading this article, TBS disciples requested Grandmaster to grant the Life-protecting and Peaceful Talisman. Grandmaster compassionately agreed and personally drew the talisman. The True Buddha Foundation earnestly encourages TBS disciples to join together to supplicate Guru Buddha to stay in the world and to pray that the spiritual light will extend Grandmaster’s life.
TBS disciples should think of the Root Guru three times daily throughout their entire life.
Oct 13, 2022 (Lunar calendar Sep. 18) happens to be a Chu day. To remember Grandmaster during our lifetime, let’s hang a red bag containing the Life-protecting and Peaceful Talisman on a Golden Mother of the Jade Pond or Tiger Head Vajra statue. Pray for spiritual light to protect Grandmaster and supplicate Guru Buddha to stay in the world for a very long time. Additionally, recite the True Buddha Sutra which is responsive to whatever one prays for, and dedicate the merit to Grandmaster's staying long in the world and saving sentient beings!
Method:
Print the talisman on a piece of red paper, put it in a small red bag, and close the bag with a red thread. On the afternoon of a Chu day, hang the bag around the neck of a principal deity statue of Grandmaster. Pray for spiritual light to protect Grandmaster.
One may choose the statue of Golden Mother of the Jade Pond or Tiger Head Vajra.
