The True Buddha Foundation (TBF) Education Department recently established the True Buddha School International Youth Program (TBSIYP). As part of its initiative to promote worldwide youth collaboration, TBF will help True Buddha School (TBS) cultivation venues worldwide establish international youth clubs aimed at uniting young people. The purpose of TBSIYP is to illuminate one’s life with the bodhicitta spirit of understanding others by walking in their shoes and of enlightening oneself and others to become the warmest ray of light in other people’s lives; to connect the world across national boundaries, transcend racial and cultural divides and brighten up the hearts of others with the light of one’s heart; and to uphold the TBS lineage generation after generation.

Founding Principles
With illuminating self and others as its foundational belief and serving oneself and others as its motto, TBSIYP has been established to create awareness in young people that Buddhist teachings can and should be applied in every aspect of life. Dharma teachings play an important role in providing the proper outlook on life. Buddhists achieve personal growth and development when they put Buddhist teachings into practice.

Self-illumination and service to self:
We must learn self-care techniques, that is, we must understand what contributes to our well-being, be kind to ourselves, and learn emotional self-regulation. We must serve, love, and cherish ourselves while maintaining a mindframe of emotional positivity.

Illuminating others and being of service to others.
We firmly believe that everyone has some positivity we can all learn from. We must therefore demonstrate respect, kindness, and gratitude to those around us.

Goals of TBSIYP

1. Integrate Buddhist teachings into our lives to create positivity. Promote activities that are full of energy and vitality. Spearhead a youth networking program for the new generation.
   
2. Put “illuminating oneself and others” into practice. Actualize exchange of self with others. Adhere to the philosophy of mutual assistance, learning together, and sharing. Nurture future generations to be physically and spiritually healthy with excellent development in morality, intellect, physique, sociability, and aesthetics.
   
3. Self-development through incorporating Buddhist values of the true, the good and the beautiful to realize the aspiration of purifying the minds of sentient beings, caring and serving others, and bringing peace and harmony to countries and societies.
   
4. To ensure the flourishing of TBS and sustain the continuity of the lineage by encouraging TBS cultivation venues to progress with the times.
