2025 True Buddha School Praying for the World
Love is a compassionate and selfless force, a benevolent intention that transcends borders, religions, and cultures. In the face of disaster, there are no distinctions of nationality or culture. Whether within the United States, across the ocean, or in neighboring regions of Asia, all suffering sentient beings are profoundly connected to us.
The sound of the mantra transcends language and race; it is a connection from heart to heart, a spiritual power that goes beyond material assistance.
The True Buddha Foundation (TBF) calls on worldwide True Buddha cultivation venues and disciples to chant the Disaster Relief Mantra and pray for blessings upon the world.
Since the first day of the new year, while people have been joyfully welcoming the arrival of 2025, a string of natural disasters, calamities, plagues, diseases, and wars has been continuously spreading throughout the world.
There was a 4.8 magnitude earthquake in Yongning County, Yinchuan, Ningxia, China, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Shigatse, Tibet, and a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan accompanied by a tsunami. Other countries, such as Ethiopia, have also experienced strong earthquakes. In addition, Japan experienced a disastrously heavy snowfall. In South Korea, a plane crash resulted in significant casualties. The wildfires raging in California, USA, since January 7 have been particularly devastating and are still not fully contained.
This human suffering is deeply heartbreaking and unbearable to the compassionate heart of our Root Guru, who embodies boundless and unconditional loving-kindness and shared sorrow for all beings. Having a Buddha present in the world offers solace and salvation to suffering sentient beings.
In light of this, TBF calls upon all True Buddha cultivation venues and disciples to recite the Disaster Relief Mantra and dedicate the merit to:
The cessation of disasters related to earth, water, fire, wind, and space around the world.
The eradication of diseases and plagues.
The cessation of wars and the advancement of peace.
The global economic recovery, improved livelihoods, and the creation of a beautiful new world.
Why Recite the Disaster Relief Mantra?
Living Buddha Lian-sheng explained:
Mahesvara Buddha once transmitted the Disaster Relief Mantra to Living Buddha Lian-sheng:
"Ta-chi-zha-zha-la。ta-chi-lu-lou-li。 ma-ha-lu-lou-li。ah-la-mo-la。duo-la。so-ha。"
When sentient beings face hardship, I recite this mantra to provide relief and salvation.
Once activated, the Disaster Relief Mantra provides protection to those in dire situations. Refugees who have narrowly escaped death and become homeless or trapped in disaster zones will receive the mantra’s protection.
The mantra prompts global awareness, spurs humanitarian organizations to act, and accelerates disaster recovery and reconstruction. Furthermore, this mantra helps ensure that, post-disaster, refugees do not suffer from long-term consequences such as pandemics.
For the deceased, one recites the Rebirth Mantra for deliverance (the Disaster Relief Mantra can also help deliver the deceased). For living refugees, the Disaster Relief Mantra offers protection.
We urge all True Buddha disciples worldwide to recite the Disaster Relief Mantra, praying for disasters to cease, for survivors to quickly receive care and assistance, and for the deceased to be free from fear and be reborn in the pure land.
