Aug. 18, 2013 - The Importance of Vajravarahi
We can also address Vajravarahi as Dorje Pakmo. Every practitioner needs this deity. I can also say that all should register as the main supplicant for this deity. She is the most important one of all Buddha Mothers. Her origin is ''Prajnaparamita,'' whose heart mantra is ''Die-ya-ta, om, ga-di, ga-di, bo-luo-ga-di, bo-luo-seng-ga-di, pu-ti, so-ha.'' Vajravarahi is a very helpful deity for Vajrayana practitioners who practice inner fire, as all must get blessing from her. She also has a bearing on the Treasure Vase Breathing Practice and the ignition of inner fire. If one desires to practice inner fire, one must pray to Vajravarahi for her blessing. As an example, Milarepa - a great venerable one in Tibet - ignited his inner fire by practicing Vajravarahi. One must have the blessing from this deity to start the inner fire, open up the central channel, fill up the chi for the Treasure Vase Breathing Practice, and induce light drops to descend. All these practices rely on Vajravarahi's blessing. That is why she is a very important deity for practitioners cultivating internal Vajrayana practices. Vajravarahi is also a dharma protector. Since the beginning, Padmasambhava, Simhamukha and Vajravarahi have been considered as one. You can tell by the divine staff that they hold. They all hold a khatvanga, which signifies that they belong as one. Seeing that Vajravarahi holds a khatvanga, everyone should know that she is a great motherly venerable one. In general, all internal Vajrayana practices such as inner fire, Treasure Vase Breathing, opening up of the central channel, and light drops require Vajravarahi's blessing. She is the principal deity of internal practices - one of utmost importance.
!!Please be aware that before anyone can practice the above uncommon dharma practices, it is advised and recommended that they take refuge and the respective empowerment; alternatively one must face inherent resulting cause and effect!!
