Wish-fulfilling Humsvaranadinitara Practice for Complete Success In All One's Undertakings

Dayi Cultivation Society, Sun. Mar. 26, 2017 Dharma King Living Buddha Lian-sheng Sheng-yen Lu Humsvaranadinitara Ceremony

I will now begin to discourse Humsvaranadinitara. In the Green Tara series, Humsvaranadinitara occupies the 5th position. When I invoked Humsvaranadinitara, Green Tara, White Tara, and all the other 21 Taras were present. Because many other buddhas and bodhisattvas also came I won't introduce each and every one, but they were primarily in the Tara series. The Taras are the same series as Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta.

The source of Green Tara is Atisha, who travelled from India to Sri Lanka and on to Jambi, Indonesia to visit Serlingpa. Atisha studied under Guru Serlingpa for about 10 years. From Serlingpa, Atisha learned the generation of bodhicitta and many other practices, the most important of which was the Green Tara Practice. Atisha brought the Green Tara Practice back to India and Tibet. This is the origin of the Green Tara Practice.

According to legend, when Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva shed tears of great compassion for sentient beings, Green Tara emerged from a teardrop from one of her eyes. A tear from Avalokitesvara's other eye transformed into White Tara. This is the origin of the two Taras.

I will now transmit cultivation of the Green Tara's Humsvaranadinitara practice. This is an extraordinarily important practice. I would like everyone to listen calmly to this truly great dharma. When cultivating the practice, one first performs the 7 steps of the preliminary practice. The 7 step preliminary practice begins with the Great Homage and proceeds to Mandala Offering, Fourfold Refuge, Four Immeasurable Vows, Repentance, Armor Protection, and Generation of Bodhicitta. Next comes the main practice, then the concluding practice. The preliminary practice is the usual practice, including the Great Homage and the Four Preliminaries. The middle part of the practice, called the main practice, is of greatest importance. The Dedication of Merit and Praise Verse in the last part of the practice are part of the concluding practice. What is involved in the main practice? Visualization, mantra recitation, mudra formation, and entering samadhi.

The mudra that Grandmaster is now forming is the mudra of Golden Mother. This mudra is also Humsvaranadinitara's mudra and the mudra of mother tantra. Humsvaranadinitara's mantra is 「om。da-lie。dou-da-lie。dou-lie。hum。so-ha。」Note that Humsvaranadinitara's mantra is Green Tara' mantra with the addition of a ''hum'' syllable. The visualization is of utmost importance. By learning the Humsvaranadinitara visualization one also learns Vajra Chanting. Visualization is the key point of the Humsvaranadinitara practice.

The most important element of the Humsvaranadinitara Practice is the visualization. How does one visualize? One visualizes a ''hum'' syllable appearing in empty space. The ''hum'' revolves and transforms into Humsvaranadinitara above one's crown. Humsvaranadinitara then enters into one's body and enlarges to exactly the same size as one. Instantly, one transforms into Humsvaranadinitara. From this moment on, one may begin to cultivate all the Humsvaranadinitara practices.

Generally speaking, all Vajrayana cultivation practices proceed in this way. However, today's Humsvaranadinitara Practice is different. This is the important point, the key cultivation formula. Today I am going to transmit this most important key cultivation formula, a formula which brings tremendous benefits. Disciples either absent from today's ceremony or watching on the internet do not receive empowerment. Therefore, they cannot cultivate this practice. Disciples without empowerment but wanting to cultivate this practice must write me for remote empowerment or come and receive the empowerment personally. By receiving empowerment this way, one will be in accord with dharma rules and in harmony with dharma transmission protocol.

The Three Syllable Dharani of Vajrayana is ''om-ah-hum.'' One first visualizes an ''om'' syllable, which symbolizes the entire universe, appearing in the void. The ''om'' syllable is inhaled through the nostrils into the central channel, then descends to one's heart chakra. At this moment one's heart chakra transforms into an eight-petalled lotus. One visualizes an eight-petalled lotus with a sun disc in the center of one's heart. The ''om'' syllable is on the center of the sun disc within the lotus in one's heart. Push the ''om'' syllable down with the breath, contract the anus while lifting upwards, and then exhale the ''om'' syllable.

Next, visualize an ''ah'' syllable appearing in the void. Inhale the ''ah'' syllable the same way as the ''om'' syllable. Push the ''ah'' syllable down with the breath, contract the anus while lifting upwards, and exhale the ''ah'' syllable.

The third visualization is a Sanskrit ''hum'' syllable appearing in the void. As for visualizing colors, the ''om'' syllable is white, ''ah,'' red, and ''hum,'' blue. One then inhales the blue ''hum'' syllable while visualizing the ''hum'' descending onto a sun disc in the center of the lotus within one's heart chakra.

Following visualization of the blue ''hum'' syllable inhaled into the body, one contracts the anus, lifts upwards, and holds the breath. Then visualize the blue ''hum'' syllable change color to yellow. The yellow ''hum'' syllable transforms into Humsvaranadinitara who resides atop an eight-petalled lotus within one's heart. Humsvaranadinitara gradually enlarges to exactly the same size as practitioner. With a snap of the fingers one transforms into Humsvaranadinitara.

''om, ah, hum'' are all inhaled. One holds the inhaling breath, then exhales the ''om'' and ''ah'' syllables. One does not, however, exhale the ''hum'' syllable. The ''hum'' syllable remains and transforms in color from blue to yellow. It then transforms into Humsvaranadinitara exactly the same size as practitioner. Namely, one transforms into Humsvaranadinitara. At this moment practitioner once again visualizes a yellow ''hum'' syllable atop a lotus in the center of one's heart, which is Humsvaranadinitara's heart.

Is everyone following the visualization up to this point? What I mean is that one's visualization must be very, very precise? When visualizing Humsvaranadinitara, one must pay close attention to every visualization and every successive stage. As for the ''om'' of ''om-ah-hum,'' it is inhaled. The inhaling breath is held tightly then exhaled. The second syllable is inhaled and the breath held tightly, then exhaled. The third syllable is inhaled but not exhaled. The syllable transforms into Humsvaranadinitara who gradually enlarges to exactly the same size as practitioner. In an instant, one transforms into Humsvaranadinitara.

After transforming into Humsvaranadinitara, what comes next? One visualizes a ''hum'' syllable in the center of a lotus in one's heart chakra. The functioning of Humsvaranadinitara then begins as one visualizes oneself as Humsvaranadinitara!

When a ''hum'' syllable is within the heart lotus, one may visualize someone whom one wishes to win the lottery or become wealthy appearing in front of one. If one cannot visualize the person clearly, one may hold the person's photograph and look at the person. Next, one exhales the lotus out through one's central channel and exclaims ''hum!'' The person visualized in front of one now has a ''hum'' inside and on their body. Then, as one continues to recite ''hum, hum, hum, hum… '' little ''hum'' syllables stick to the person's body one after another like stickers. Finally, one loudly exclaims a last ''hum!'' The person in front of one then transforms into a yellow ''hum'' syllable. This is called enrichment dharma. What is meant by enrichment dharma? It increases a person's good fortune. Because one has blessed the person, everything becomes lucky and auspicious for that person. The person can buy a lottery ticket and win the grand prize. Of course, there is only one grand prize in the lottery, and if everyone buys a ticket, some will win the second or lesser prizes. If one has sufficient good fortune, one will win the grand prize.

I remember there was framed calligraphy on the dining room wall of Rainbow Temple in Seattle, USA. The calligraphy was by Grandmaster's guru Thubten Dargye. The first line of the calligraphy was ''I realize that all sentient beings are the syllable hum.'' In other words, what Guru Thubten Dargye meant was that each and every sentient being is the ''hum'' syllable. Humsvaranadinitara is the buddha mother of the ''hum'' syllable. She can help one increase wealth. Although one may not win first prize in the lottery, one's boss will give one a raise, or a thick year-end bonus.

After the yellow ''hum'' emerges, one visualizes a white ''hum'' syllable emerging within the moon disc in one's heart. The white ''hum'' syllable likewise blesses each person.

How did Grandmaster recite so as to bless so many of you? Visualize a white ''hum'' syllable coming up one's central channel to one's mouth. One then repeatedly recites ''hum, hum, hum, hum, hum … '' and a final ''hum!'' One then visualizes oneself transforming into a white ''hum'' syllable thereby eliminating all one's disasters and calamities. The white ''hum'' eradicates calamities. Everyone's disasters and calamities are extinguished.

One must not drink and drive. By driving carefully, one will avoid disasters and calamities. Remember the ''hum'' syllable that I have discussed. As long as the white ''hum'' syllables are on one's body, one will not encounter disasters or catastrophes of any kind. The white ''hum'' can also help one become strong and healthy. When one is not healthy, one can often recite the ''hum'' syllable.

Visualize white ''hum'' syllables emerging from Humsvaranadinitara's heart and sticking on one until one's body is completely covered with white ''hum'' syllables. One then loudly exclaims ''hum'' and transforms into the white ''hum'' syllable. As a result, one's body will always be strong and healthy. One will not catch a cold, the flu, or have any other health problems. If one often cultivates Humsvaranadinitara dharma, one will eradicate karmic illness. This is Vajrayana dharma. One may stick the white ''hum'' syllable on one's painful right or left shoulder One may stick a white ''hum'' syllable on one's heart to help one's heart health. If one's leg or knee hurts, one can stick a white ''hum'' syllable on it to eliminate pain and illness. Do you understand?

I am telling everyone, with me pushing you from behind, one may cultivate Humsvaranadinitara dharma whenever one is sick. There is no risk involved. With my push, one may frequently visualize white ''hum'' syllables stuck all over one's body. With a loud ''hum,'' one transforms into a white ''hum'' syllable. By cultivating in this way on a daily basis, one's body will get stronger and healthier. Even when one is out or traveling, all will be peaceful and auspicious and one will not encounter any accidents or calamities.

By cultivating the white ''hum'' syllable, Humsvaranadinitara transforms into white ''hum'' syllables which stick all over someone's body. The ''hum'' could also emerge and stick all over one's own body. One will then have nothing to fear. If the sky falls, Master Lianya will hold it up because he's tall! If the ground cracks open, Master Huijun will be the one falling into the crack because she's heavier. As I am thinner, I won't fall in. Therefore, I don't fear the sky falling or the earth splitting. After all, fat persons will fill in the crack. Am I right? One does not need to be afraid. Everything will turn out auspiciously.

If intending to help others, one sticks white ''hum'' syllables on the sick person's body. One can also help one's sick mother, father, grandmother or grandfather by cultivating at their bedside and transforming them into a white ''hum'' syllable.

Yellow represents one's provisions and wealth. White represents eradication of calamities and all accidents. What about the red ''hum'' syllable? It enhances interpersonal relationships and has remarkable benefits such as for young person who is waiting for love to come. One who secretly loves someone can place that person's photograph in front of them. One then exhales a red ''hum'' syllable from Humsvaranadinitara. Out of one's mouth, little red ''hum'' syllables then stick all over the body of the girl whom one secretly loves and she transforms into a red ''hum'' syllable. One then swallows the ''hum'' syllable. Actually, it is not necessary. It's ok to just visualize this. One doesn't need to really eat the ''hum'' syllable! One need only visualize her throwing herself into one's arms and beginning to admire one. This is subjugation of love. However, one should behave properly and not stick ''hum'' syllables all over Grandmaster's body. If one sticks ''hum'' syllables on Grandmaster's body then Grandmaster would start to hang out with one. I would leave Shimu and start going around with you instead. So utilize this practice correctly. This is how to use love and respect dharma.

If one's boss doesn't like one, one may perform the Humsvaranadinitara love and respect dharma every day by sticking red ''hum'' syllables all over one's boss. Use this ''sticking'' in every cultivation session. When the sticking is complete, loudly exclaim ''hum'' and transform one's boss into a red ''hum'' syllable. When one goes to work, one's boss will suddenly change. He will be all smiles, welcome you to work, and offer you a raise. This is how one practices love and respect dharma with the red ''hum'' syllable.

Now we are going to discuss blue ''hum'' syllable. We must engage in true and authentic cultivation. It is through true and authentic cultivation that we receive true and authentic benefits. Everyone can see that there is a blue ''hum'' syllable within the lotus in Humsvaranadinitara's heart. One uses the same practice formula, that is, lifting the blue ''hum'' syllable into one's mouth then exclaiming ''hum!'' The ''hum'' comes out from the mouth and one can stick it onto someone. But who to stick it to? One can stick it on one's adversary, one's enemy. Stick the ''hum'' syllable on their body. By exclaiming ''hum,'' one's enemy will leave and no longer come looking for trouble. This is how to use the blue ''hum'' syllable. Actually there is an even deeper practice within this practice but I am simplifying the practice for everyone. If the person is one's enemy, the person will go away. They will leave.

Having learned Humsvaranadinitara Practice, her visualization, her mantra, and her mudra, when one returns and cultivates the practice, everything one does will turn out auspiciously. Whatever practice one performs will be successful.

If one has a mean, bad-tempered wife, one can stick blue ''hum'' syllables on her body. Up to now, Grandmaster has never needed to stick blue ''hum'' syllables on Shimu. I just stay quietly at home, never daring to step outside.

By cultivating the blue ''hum'' syllable, one can not only eradicate obstacles but also influence others to listen to one. Or one can cause someone stay far away from one. The blue ''hum'' syllable has this benefit. The yellow ''hum'' syllable increases one's good fortune and wealth. The white ''hum'' syllable eliminates illness and eradicates all kinds of karmic hindrances. The red ''hum'' syllable helps one gain the love and respect of others. Now you know how to cultivate these four practices. One must, however, first cultivate ''om'' and ''ah.'' One then proceeds to ''hum.'' One sticks the ''hum'' syllables which come out from Humsvaranadinitara all over the body of a person.

One may also stick the ''hum'' syllables onto a house. What? One can even stick ''hum'' on a house? Can't ''hum'' only be stuck onto a person? No, not at all. When yellow ''hum'' syllables are stuck onto a house, the house transforms into a most excellent ''yang residence'' which increases wealth and good fortune. When white ''hum'' syllables are stuck onto a house, those residing there will be extraordinarily healthy and strong. By sticking red ''hum'' syllables on a residence, the family residing there will be in harmony and happy. By sticking blue ''hum'' syllables on a residence, there will be boundary protection. No black magic can disturb the household and no ghost can enter it.

In addition to houses, one can stick ''hum'' syllables onto Taiwan. By sticking white ''hum'' syllables on a country, the country will always remain peaceful, will endure, and will forever be auspicious. The people will be wealthy, the weather will be favorable, the country will be prosperous, and everyone will be safe. By sticking yellow ''hum'' syllables on Taiwan, everyone in Taiwan will have abundant food and clothing. There will be housing for all. New graduates will receive 100K/mo right off. Their salary won't be just the usual 22K, it will be 50K or 100K. Just by sticking yellow ''hum'' syllables, everyone will receive a high salary and have abundant food and clothing.

By sticking red ''hum'' syllables, the Legislative Yuan will not always be gridlocked with it's members arguing and fighting. One must first learn martial arts before becoming a member of the Legislative Yuan! They also need to learn ''Yong Chun Fist'' (Grandmaster demonstrates). Otherwise they will be beaten to a pulp.

By sticking red ''hum'' syllables on Taiwan, everyone will be happy and harmonious. When a car accident occurs, the two parties will get out and shake hands: ''Do you have insurance? If you are insured, just give me your insurance number and I'll give you mine.'' After shaking hands and greeting each other, the two parties will go get a cup of tea together. This is how it will happen when two cars collide! Presently in Taiwan, however, it's like this: after a car accident, they argue, ''Are you in the right or am I in the right? …'' After sticking red ''hum'' syllables on Taiwan, this kind of fighting and arguing will no longer occur in Taiwan. This phenomenon will not appear.

By sticking blue ''hum'' syllables on Taiwan, there will be no terrorists in Taiwan. Taiwan's boundaries will be protected. What does ''protected boundaries'' for Taiwan mean? Before attacking, those attacking must find a target, like North Korea keeping eye on South Korea, ISIS focusing on Europe, US on China and vice versa, right? ISIS has recently expanded their attention to the Middle East and Africa! Although busy looking toward these other countries, ISIS doesn't see Taiwan. It is because Taiwan's boundaries are protected. At the moment, the strategic situation in the East China Sea and South China Sea is very tense. Let them be tense and not notice Taiwan so Taiwan will be safe. By practicing Humsvaranadinitara dharma one can protect Taiwan. As long as it is practiced often, sticking ''hum'' syllables from the deity onto houses, people, and all of Taiwan, everything will be safe and auspicious. Unlucky residences will become fortunate and all one's wishes will be fulfilled. Look how great this dharma is! Right? (Right!) Isn't this good? (Yes!) Right? (Right!) If one wants to be elected, at every election, one may stick red ''hum'' syllables on oneself. With red ''hum'' syllables on oneself, people will say ''Wow! I really like this guy!'' They will vote for you and you will definitely be elected. Wouldn't that be great? (Yes!).

Where is Tai Chihyuan? Tai Chihyuan, if you often cultivate Humsvaranadinitara and stick red ''hum'' syllables on yourself, that would be terrific! Just by singing a song on stage, the entire audience will be utterly captivated by you. This is the effect of cultivating Humsvaranadinitara dharma!

Just cover your entire body with red ''hum'' syllables, go out and sing, and everyone will become your fan. When acting in a movie, stick red ''hum'' syllables on oneself to become a red ''hum'' syllable person. Once the movie comes out, crowds of people will go see it.
Artists should stick red ''hum'' syllables on themselves, and so should those who want to be elected. By mastering this dharma, one gains riches and good fortune. The praise verse comes later, and of course we should praise Humsvaranadinitara.

In case of a couple fighting and arguing, they can stick red ''hum'' syllables on each other. By sticking red ''hum'' syllables on me, Grandmaster will attract a lot of people. Many fans will be present. Even in a large room such as this, there will not be an empty seat! I will stick red ''hum'' syllables on myself and Shimu will quietly whisper to me ''Strange! You are so bad, why do I still like you?'' You see! It's very useful, very effective. It's not just Shimu who likes me. All the little children like me too. They tell me so. It touches my heart. ''Grandmaster, you are handsome!'' When I hear this, I tingle all over with joy. ''Grandmaster, you are so tall!'' Although I'm not actually tall, inside I feel so cool. Some of the children say to me, ''Grandmaster, you work too hard.'' Regardless of how hard it is, I am willing, right?

With Humsvaranadinitara, one can obtain whatever one wants. Whatever one undertakes will be successful. Like every practice, Humsvaranadinitara Practice includes a preliminary practice. One must perform the preliminary practice. The preliminary practice is followed by visualization, mantra recitation, and entering samadhi. After the visualization, one recites the mantra,
om。da-lie。dou-da-lie。dou-lie。hum。(raising your voice up) so-ha。」「om。da-lie。dou-da-lie。dou-lie。hum。so-ha。」One raises one's voice for emphasis when pronouncing the ''hum'' syllable.

One first visualizes. The mantra is recited after visualization. One then enters samadhi. One entering samadhi is ''Right Concentration,'' which is what I have been discussing. Yesterday, during the dharma discourse at Taiwan Lei Tsang Temple, what Grandmaster discussed was ''right meditation,'' not ''evil meditation.'' By entering evil meditation, one will see evil scenes. On the contrary, by entering right meditation, one will obtain right view, namely seeing what one is supposed to see. This is called ''Right Concentration.'' Right meditation leads to right view whereas evil meditation leads to evil view. This is unchanging.

Upon finishing samadhi, one emerges and praises Humsvaranadinitara by reciting the praise verse. How to praise her? Since praise verses are man-made, one can just thank Humsvaranadinitara directly from one's own heart for whatever one wants to thank her for.

The dismissal comes last. We have so-called Dismissal, which is required after invocation. To dismiss, we use the Dismissal Mudra. Snapping fingers will also do. Clapping the hands then snapping one's fingers can be dismissal and it can also be the wake-up call. One invokes Humsvaranadinitara with the Invocation Hooking Mudra. In Vajrayana, a ''Departure Carriage'' is used to send off a deity. In the Humsvaranadinitara Practice, we send the deity back to where she came from on a cloud departure carriage, which is the so-called Departure Carriage.

I will demonstrate the mudra. Everyone please watch. (Grandmaster demonstrates the mudra: Extend the arms and keep the hands facing down. Each hand makes a circle with the index finger and thumb. Leave the remaining fingers extended.)
The mudra I just formed is called Cloud Carriage Mudra. The two circles underneath represent two wheels. Extending the two arms simultaneously sends the deity back to the original place. This is the Departure Carriage Mudra which means sending the deity back to the deity's original heaven. This concludes one cultivation session.

Today's dharma discourse will end here. Thanks everybody. Om Mani Padme Hum.
