Continuing to Care for Poor Families

In addition to visiting four impoverished families seeking help at the end of September 2020 and giving them assistance, Lotus Light Charity Society (Malaysia) – Jin Hai Branch continued to distribute assistance supplies on 3 October to nine households in the Skudai area, Johor. The Covid-19 pandemic has made life even harder, thus they looked to Jin Hai Branch for help.  

The first person visited was 83-year-old elderly Madam Tan, who lives alone. Her child went to Singapore to work and was unable to return due to the pandemic, thus she looked to Lotus Light Charity Society for help. 

The second person visited was Auntie Ah Jiao, a 73-year-old also living alone. Her daughter is in Singapore and unable to return for the time being. Fortunately, she was able to take on some cleaning work at a temple recently, enabling her to have a little bit of income. 

The third person that Jin Hai Branch visited was Mahathir, who has a family of three. Due to his unemployment for some time, their lives are now in troubled waters. 

The fourth household visited was that of the Hu family, also with three members and no income due to unemployment. 

The Ye family was the fifth household visited by Jin Hai Branch. Comprising four family members, the husband is a casual worker who has not had any work in recent months. 

The sixth family visited was that of the Huang household, a family of five. The husband is a casual construction worker, and due to the pandemic, he has not had any work recently, and thus no income. 

72-year-old elderly Madam Huang, who lives alone, is the seventh person visited by Jin Hai Branch. Her daughter is married, but their family situation is also not very good. Sometimes her daughter will visit her. In order to supplement the household income, she collects recyclables, such as cardboard, old newspapers, rusted iron, aluminium cans, and so on.

The eighth family visited was that of the Zhang family, comprising three young siblings and their mother who suffered a stroke many years ago. Their father had died at an early age. Well-behaved 16-year-old Zhang and his younger brother are still studying, and after school, he would return home to take care of his mother and do housework. Their sister's work is the only source of income for their family. 

The Shen family of three is the ninth impoverished household visited by Jin Hai branch. A low-to-middle-income family, they hope that Lotus Light Charity Society can help them overcome the difficulties they are currently facing.
