PRAJNA PARAMITA HEART SUTRA (Heart Sutra)

The Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, while movingin the deep course of Prajnaparamita, shed light on the five aggregates, andfound them empty in nature. After this penetration, he overcame all pain.


Listen, Shariputra, form is emptiness,emptiness is form; form is no other than emptiness, emptiness is no other thanform. The same is true with feeling, perception, intention and consciousness.


Hear, Shariputra, all dharmas areintrinsically empty; they are neither produced nor destroyed, neither defilednor immaculate, neither increasing nor decreasing.
Therefore, in emptiness, there is no form,feeling, perception, intention nor consciousness; no eyes, ears, nose, tongue,body, nor mind; no forms, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, nor mental objects;nor is there the realm of the eyes, up to and including the realm of mindconsciousness. There is no ignorance nor the ending of ignorance, up to andincluding no decay and death, nor the ending of decay and death. There are nosuffering, no extinction of suffering, no path, no wisdom, and also noattainment.


Because there is no attainment, thebodhisattvas, abiding by the Prajnaparamita, find no obscuration for theirmind. Having no obscuration, they overcome fear, liberating themselves foreverfrom illusion and realizing perfect Nirvana.


All Buddhas in the Three Times throughreliance upon Prajnaparamita, arrive at full, right and universalEnlightenment.


Therefore, one should know that Prajnaparamitais a great spiritual mantra, a great wisdom mantra, a supreme mantra, anunequalled mantra. It destroys all suffering, because it is the incorruptibletruth. A mantra of Prajnaparamita should therefore be proclaimed.

GUAN ZI ZAI PU SA,

SHE LI ZI,

SE BU YI KONG, KONG BU YI SE,
form is emptiness, emptiness is form;

SE JI SHI KONG, KONG JI SHI SE,
form is no other than emptiness, emptiness isno other than form.

SHOU XIANG XING SHI, YI FU RU SHI
The same is true with feeling, perception,intention and consciousness.

SHE LI ZI, SHI ZHU FA KONG XIANG,
Hear, Shariputra, all dharmas areintrinsically empty;

BU SHENG BU MIE,
they are neither produced nor destroyed,

BU GOU BU JING, BU ZENG BU JIAN,
neither defiled nor immaculate, neitherincreasing nor decreasing.

SHI GU KONG ZHONG WU SE, WU SHOU XIANG XINGSHI,
Therefore, in emptiness, there is no form,feeling, perception, intention nor consciousness;

WU YAN ER BI SHE SHEN YI,
no eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, nor mind;

WU SE SHENG XIANG WEI CHU FA,
no forms, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, normental objects;

WU YAN JIE, NAI ZHI WU YI SHI JIE,
nor is there the realm of the eyes, up to andincluding the realm of mind consciousness.

WU WU MING, YI WU WU MING JIN,
There is no ignorance nor the ending ofignorance,

NAI ZHI WU LAO SI, YI WU LAO SI JIN,
up to and including no decay and death, northe ending of decay and death.

WU KU JI MIE DAO, WU ZHI YI WU DE,
There are no suffering, no extinction ofsuffering, no path, no wisdom, and also no attainment.

YI WU SUO DE GU, PU TI SA DUO,
Because there is no attainment, thebodhisattvas,

YI BO YE BO LUO MI DUO GU, XIN WU GUA AI,
abiding by the Prajnaparamita, find noobscuration for their mind.

WU GUA AI GU, WU YOU KONG BU,
Having no obscuration, they overcome fear,

YUAN LI DIAN DAO MENG XIANG, JIU JING NIE PAN
liberating themselves forever from illusionand realizing perfect Nirvana.

SAN SHI ZHU FO, YI BO YE BO LUO MI DUO GU,
All Buddhas in the Three Times throughreliance upon Prajnaparamita,

DE AH NOU DUO LUO SAN MIAO SAN PU TI,
arrive at full, right and universalEnlightenment.

GU ZHI BO YE BO LUO MI DUO, SHI DA SHEN ZHOU,
Therefore, one should know that Prajnaparamitais a great spiritual mantra,

SHI DA MING ZHOU,
a great wisdom mantra,

SHI WU SHANG ZHOU,
a supreme mantra,

SHI WU DENG DENG ZHOU,
an unequalled mantra.

NENG CHU YI QIE KU, ZHEN SHI BU XU
It destroys all suffering, because it is theincorruptible truth.

GU SHUO BO YE BO LUO MI DUO ZHOU,
A mantra of Prajnaparamita should therefore beproclaimed.
