Notice Concerning Spiritual Healing
TBF- Caut 00005
Spiritual healing is a manifestation of blessing power. There are various methods of spiritual healing including passing through fire, consuming great compassion water, mantra chanting, sutra chanting, drawing talismans, dharma practices, hypnotism, spiritual consultation, crown blessing, mudra blessing, remote blessing, and even koan discussion.
However, spiritual healing cannot cross the line into the practice of medicine, such as writing prescriptions, diagnosis, selling medication, invasive and contact treatments, or any methods that may cause side-effects or otherwise harm the health and well-being of body and mind. None of the abovementioned activities are authorized by the True Buddha School (TBS).
TBS Dharma propagating personnel are prohibited from using spiritual healing techniques as a pretext for inappropriately touching any person. This prohibition includes touching the front upper region of the body, the waist or pelvic area, buttocks, or any other sensitive areas. Members of the TBS ordained Sangha are absolutely, strictly prohibited from engaging in such contact.
Due to a societal perception associating spiritual healing with fraudulent practitioners who deceive others for personal gain, it’s crucial to avoid any misunderstanding by the general public. Therefore, Dharma propagating personnel are advised to refrain from advocating or advertising spiritual healing methods in external communications or promotional materials propagated in connection with TBS cultivation venues.
TBS is not liable for Dharma propagating personnel who perform spiritual healing in an inappropriate manner, violate local laws, or ignore professional medical advice. Dharma propagating personnel themselves bear full responsibility for civil or criminal prosecution, or any other consequences of their actions. If, upon investigation, it is determined that Dharma propagating personnel have violated TBS guidelines concerning spiritual healing, such person or persons will be disciplined in accordance with True Buddha School regulations.
