2017 Seattle Dragon Fest

On July 16, 2017 HH Living Buddha Lian-sheng, founder of the True Buddha School, graced the annual Seattle Summer Dragon Fest with his presence

This year's Dragon Fest was jointly organized by the Seattle Chinatown International District Business Improvement Area and McDonald's. Prior to his arrival at the Dragon Fest, Living Buddha Lian-sheng visited and blessed the True Buddha Seattle Chapter which is located on Jackson St. in the International District. Distinguished guests on the scene included Ms. Xie Mingfang and advisor to the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee, Sifu Mak Hin Fai. Under the direction of Master Mai, the dragon and lion dance troupes put on a lively performance as part of their warm welcome. It was an extremely festive scene indeed!

Upholding the teaching of Living Buddha Lian-sheng that buddhadharma should be propagated in the world so that the sentient beings will be saved universally, Seattle's Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple (LSCTT) has participated in the Dragon Fest for nearly 20 years. This year, the LSCTT booth displayed Vajrayana thangkas, exquisite buddha statues, and various extraordinary dharma instruments which showcase the unique nature and characteristics of Buddhism.

In addition, small token gifts and exciting gifts from spinning a roulette wheel were given away on the spot in hopes of magnifying the grace and blessings of buddha and to extensively foster favourable dharma affinity with visitors to the booth.

During his visit to the activities and booths at the Dragon Fest, Living Buddha Lian-sheng Sheng-yen Lu accepted an interview from Mr Zhao Hongyi of Asian American Television (AAT TV). Invited by Master Liang Wenhui, Living Buddha Lian-sheng also gave a performance of Vajra Staff on the festival stage. Awestruck onlookers could not take their eyes off the performance. The continuous rounds of applause from the audience made the celebration even more festive and lively. The joy and laughter of the celebration along the way caused everyone to forget the summer heat.

Contemporary author and Dharma King Living Buddha Lian-sheng Sheng-yen Lu stated in a book, ''My books are not flowers, they are grass. They are good books only if they bring benefit to sentient beings. I have written a considerable number of books and I hope that people in this world will understand them. I hope my books will be a bridge that leads to the liberation of sentient beings and that they help alleviate suffering and afflictions.'' Whether this is the author's wish or manifestations of the world, Living Buddha Lian-sheng's intention to save sentient beings will never end.
