At every instant, the heart of Living Buddha Lian-sheng is filled with compassion for sentient beings who have suffered harm and calamities from ghosts. Grandmaster will now exercise his mighty power as a Buddha King by presiding over a first-ever all-embracing Luotian Ritual at Vijaya Temple in Northern California. With a compassionate heart of equality and non-discrimination, Grandmaster will wield a gavel made of wood struck by lightning to blast open the doors of hell. He will subjugate evil spirits and deliver orphan wandering ghosts and netherworld beings. More than 200 True Buddha School (TBS) sangha will participate in the ceremony to support this magnificent Luotian Ritual, a ceremony which is being greatly anticipated by millions of TBS disciples worldwide!

Since May 7, Seattle LSCTT has been responding to and supporting the Luotian Ritual by assembling disciples and the sangha at the temple to unitedly recite sutras and mantras. The group recitation and dedication will continue for the next eight weeks. All the merit of the group recitations will be dedicated to the Luotian Ritual.

May 7 was the first day of the organized merit dedication. That evening, while sutras and mantras were being chanted at the founding temple, Grandmaster was cultivating at the True Buddha Quarter and dedicating the merit of his practice to all the spirits attending the ceremony so they may have rebirth in the pure land, and for a smooth and perfect Luotian Ritual. Shimu was also present at the founding temple to personally take part in the dharma activity.

The Luotian Ritual is a pioneering ceremony of TBS. With hearts and minds unified, all TBS disciples are tightly connected to mutually support the great compassionate aspirations of the Root Guru. If everyone does their share of recitation and unites with everyone else's share, it's like gathering grains of sand to build a pagoda. The merit then accumulates from a little to abundant. By joining together in unification with the Root Guru, we elevate the power of deliverance to its utmost peak so that countless netherworld beings can be delivered.

The dharma activity of recitation and merit dedication being undertaken by LSCTT in the eight weeks prior to the Luotian Ritual on June 30 has the content of Root Guru Yoga as its mandatory basis with the addition of more sutras and mantras.

For sutra recitation, only one specific sutra will be recited during each week in the following sequence: True Buddha Sutra (three recitations per session), Amitabha Sutra (three recitations per session), High King Sutra (seven recitations per session), and Heart Sutra (21 recitations per session). In addition, there will be one recitation of the Ksitigarbha Sutra on each consecutive Wednesday.

For mantra recitation, one specific mantra will be recited during each week in the following sequence (3 rounds of the mala for each recitation): Jade Pond Golden Mother Heart Mantra, Amitabha Heart Mantra, Dark-faced Golden Mother Heart Mantra, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva Heart Mantra, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Heart Mantra, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Mantra to Eradicate Fixed Karma, Yamantaka Heart Mantra, and Mahabala Heart Mantra.

All acharyas and reverends affiliated with the founding temple and Rainbow Temple are fully supporting and participating in this activity and taking turns leading group recitations and dedicating the merit to the Luotian Ritual.
