Attentive Caregiving Starts With You and I
During this happy and auspicious month, we hope and pray that everyone will collect meritorious rewards by making offerings to the Sangha.
In Buddhism, the 7th month of the lunar calendar is also called the month of merits. During this month, if disciples and the public make sincere offerings to the Sangha, give generously, and worship their ancestors, this will promote charity to sentient beings and the spirit of great love by doing unto others as you would to yourself. This will also demonstrate the filial piety of commemorating ancestors so that people will remember the virtues of their ancestors and act accordingly.
Through the blessings of buddhas, and in return for the offerings they receive, the Sangha prays for blessings for everyone. When the Sangha collectively recites sutras and mantras, the power of merit from the Dharma is generated. This merit is naturally incredible, because it is dedicated through the merit and blessing power of the Three Jewels of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Hence, the seventh lunar month is an auspicious time for Buddhists to sow the seeds of merit, and enhance blessings and good fortune by making offerings to buddhas and Sangha.
Since its establishment in the 1980s, the True Buddha School (TBS) has experienced remarkable growth and development. There has been a significant increase in the number of TBS cultivation venues, and countless sentient beings have been saved. The TBS monastic community and Dharma propagation teams have also strengthened as a result of TBS’s expansion. In particular, the TBS Sangha has made vital contributions to the steady advancement of TBS and the spreading of its Tantric teachings.
However, as time goes by, Sangha members who were once young and energetic are approaching their senior years. Along with this advancement in age, there has been a significant increase in the cost of long-term health care for the monastic community.
In the spirit of heartfelt gratitude and caregiving, the True Buddha Foundation has established a Sangha Care Fund to provide the following services:
1. Health insurance and medical care.
2. Clothing, food, lodging and transportation (subsidies for basic needs and essentials).
3. Education and training.
4. Senior care to ensure a comfortable retirement for the Sangha.
5. Rewards.
6. Mutual support for mental health and wellbeing.
7. Hospice care.
