The primary role of Dark-faced Golden Mother is to be in charge of all affairs of the netherworld


Seated on the dharma throne, H.H. Living Buddha Lian-sheng once again warned XX that her only means of salvation is to:
Abandon evil spirits.
Sincerely repent to Vajrasattva. When Vajrasattva appears, karmic hindrances will be eradicated.
Furthermore, XX must cultivate Avalokitesvara until attainment of true spiritual union. Then and only then will there be salvation!

This is the only way…

【Reported by Master Liandian in Taoyuan, Translated by Lynn Ang, Edited by Henry Wolf and DJ Chang】On February 5, at the Emperor Temple, Dharma King Living Buddha Lian-sheng Sheng-Yen Lu presided over a Golden Mother, Earth Mother, and Matsu Ceremony and bestowed empowerment for the Dark-faced Golden Mother Uncommon Practice.

Following the ceremony Living Buddha Lian-sheng mentioned that not only was there a Golden Mother, Earth Mother, and Matsu Ceremony today, but this was also the day to ''invite the Wealth God into one's home.'' He sincerely hoped that everyone did get the Wealth God into their home.

Living Buddha Lian-sheng went on to discourse the origin and dharma affinity of Dark-faced Golden Mother.
Long ago, Golden Mother took Jie Shigu to the celestial realm where Jie Shigu saw quite a few Golden Mothers. There were White-faced Golden Mothers, Dark-faced Golden Mothers, and Tiger-headed Golden Mothers. Upon setting foot in the celestial realm Jie Shigu discovered that with each step there was a soft and delicate feeling. It turned out the ground was entirely covered with lotuses.

While in the celestial realm Jie Shigu chose a black pill to swallow. From that time on she was able to deliver beings in the netherworld. She was also able to call upon the soul of the deceased and become a medium between the deceased and his family. Jie Shigu devoted her entire life to helping Dark-faced Golden Mother deliver netherworld beings.

The second time Grandmaster heard about Dark-faced Golden Mother was while he was at South Mountain Retreat. Grandmaster was tranquil and fully concentrated on his writing. Suddenly, dark clouds filled the sky and the entire neighborhood turned black as night. The only trace of light was from the table lamp. Immediately following were lightning, thunder and rain…

Just at this moment Grandmaster heard a noise coming from under the table: ''Grandmaster Lu please save me… Grandmaster Lu please save me…'' It turned out the voice calling for help was that of a female ghost as beautiful as a celestial goddess. The source of her distress was that the Ying Yuan Thunder God of the Ninth Heaven was coming very close to catching her. The female ghost begged Grandmaster to let her enter his body so that she could avoid being struck on the head by five thunders.
Right then the Ying Yuan Thunder God of the Ninth Heaven announced that he was carrying out a decree from Dark-faced Golden Mother to strike the female ghost's head with five thunders. Considering how to save this ghost, Grandmaster suddenly had the idea to place the Diamond Sutra atop her head. At that very instant there was a roaring clap of thunder and lightning struck a tree near Grandmaster's house, splitting it in half. Because of this, Grandmaster remarked that one can avert disaster by placing the Diamond Sutra on one's head! It was during this incident that Grandmaster heard the name of Dark-faced Golden Mother for the second time.

Another time, when Grandmaster was very young, he noticed that some people carrying a divine palanquin had rushed into the river and were dashing here and there in the currents. It turned out that Dark-faced Golden Mother was catching water ghosts in the river.

Concerning the recent ''XX incidents'' it was Dark-faced Golden Mother who arrested all the evil spirits! Her main role is to be in charge of all affairs of the netherworld! It is Dark-faced Golden Mother who is tasked with apprehending evil spirits!

Grandmaster mentioned that he doesn't engage in offhanded criticism of others. In fact, Grandmaster checks with Golden Mother before engaging in criticism of others. Only after Golden Mother's agreement will Grandmaster engage in criticism.

Grandmaster once asked Golden Mother about XX's level of attainment. Golden Mother replied ''It's zero.'' In Seattle, Master Lianzi once remarked to Grandmaster ''XX's greatest expertise is telling lies.'' XX once claimed that a crab found inside an aquarium at a fisherman's wharf was Dharma Sister Xu Yaqi's father from a past life. In another incident, XX claimed that as a result of relationships from a former lifetime, Master Lianzi had predestined relationships with a parrot, a spider, a chameleon, etc. in this lifetime. Grandmaster sought the advice of Golden Mother as to the validity of these claims. Golden Mother replied: ''Utter nonsense!''

From the dharma throne Living Buddha Lian-sheng once again warned XX that her only means of salvation is to:
Abandon evil spirits.
Sincerely repent to Vajrasattva. When Vajrasattva appears, karmic hindrances will be eradicated.

At the conclusion of the ceremony Grandmaster transmitted to everyone the Dark-faced Golden Mother mudra and her mantra ''Om, jin-mu, ha-ha-ha, hum, pei.'' He then bestowed empowerment for Dark-faced Golden Mother Uncommon Practice. The ceremony was thus auspiciously and perfectly concluded!
